FPS games have always been the most popular gaming category in India. But here are some gaming categories worth trying in 2024.
Gaming Categories worth trying:
- MOBA
MOBA(Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) is one of the most popular and loved gaming categories in the West as well as in Asia. However, MOBA games are not very popular in India.
Some of the popular MOBA games are:-
- League of Legends
- Dota 2
- MLBB
Although these games rule the MOBA category they don’t see much playtime in India. MLBB started to become quite popular during the lockdown era but was banned by the Indian government due to privacy issues. Since then, no MOBA game has become that popular.
The following post shows why the apps were banned:

- Digital Card Collecting Games
Everyone in their childhood must have a collection of certain trading cards like Pokemon, Ben 10, Wrestling, etc.
Similarly, certain games allow us to collect a different variety of cards and use their abilities to create a powerful deck and compete with other players. Such games fall under this category.
Some of my favorites are:
- Hearthstone
- Gwent: The Witcher Card Game
- Magic The Gathering
- Legends of Runeterra
- Marvel Snap
- Kurukshetra: Ascension
This category is currently my favorite because it allows me to choose from many different decks, have a cool card collection, and even flex my collection online and compete. This category keeps my inner child happy and also satisfies my competitiveness.
- MMORPGs
Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games popularly known as MMORPGs are a kind of RPG games that allow us to choose from various characters and follow a certain storyline.
However, these games are online which means we can also interact and compete with players globally.
These games are quite fun to play if you like open-world or RPG games as they provide a catchy storyline with an open-world experience.
So, if you like such games then these are some of the popular ones:
- Diablo Immortal
- Albion Online
- Black Desert Online
- Runescape
- Guild Wars 2
- The Elder Scrolls Online, and many more.
There is a huge player base for these games in other countries. However, these games are not played much in India. One reason could be the size of these games and their unavailability on mobile platforms. And the PC gaming community isn’t that big in India, especially for these categories.
Here, is my article on why mobile games are more popular in India than PC games:

These are the three categories that in my opinion should be explored more in India. If you liked any of these categories do try them and come back later to share which ones you liked and enjoyed playing.

Happy Gaming.
